Write directions for the hands

The story worth telling

A process short can lose its satisfaction when the key action is cut away too early. Name the must-keep step explicitly. A simple instruction about timing can matter more than a page of style adjectives.

Three things to capture

1. Material before the change
2. The key action in a complete take
3. The finished object

Let the camera run a little before and after each action. Those extra seconds give you room to find a better cut.
